Consultant focus: Louise Greatrex

Senior Consultant

Louise has over 30 years’ experience working within different education settings and in a variety of roles including headship of a special school and a Tier 4 CAMHS Hospital School. She has worked as teaching and learning consultant within the secondary school’s improvement team of a local authority which included providing training and other coordinated support across all key stages including special schools, PRUs and a secure children’s unit. A particular focus of her work was around behaviour, attendance, SEND and inclusion, as well as teaching and learning.

Louise has experience of supporting leadership to prevent a school going into special measures, which included coaching underperforming staff to return to good or outstanding at subsequent observations. In another school that was in special measures she worked with the acting headteacher to build the capacity of the substantive SLT. In both roles, Louise developed action plans to address areas requiring improvement and monitored and evaluated progress against these.

Louise is an experienced school inspector who has led inspections in primary, secondary, special schools and PRUs. She continues to support mainstream and special schools with a broad range of school improvement work including as an advising consultant for a local authority behaviour review and as an interim headteacher.
